Psalm 92
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore....

Happy Thanksgiving from The Masked Chicken (who is thankful that he is not The Masked Turkey).
The Chicken

The New Testament presents us with examples of how miracles are preceded by giving thanks;
And having taken the chalice, he gave thanks, and said: Take, and divide it among you: [18] For I say to you, that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, till the kingdom of God come. [19] And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.
They took therefore the stone away. And Jesus lifting up his eyes said: Father, I give thee thanks that thou hast heard me. [42] And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people who stand about have I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. [43] When he had said these things, he cried with a loud voice: Lazarus, come forth.
Upon awakening each day, praise the Lord and give Him thanks - and especially must we do this today.
Happy Thanksgiving Day to the Authors of this site from whom I have learned so much

Chicken, but if you are masked, then you don't need to worry, right? Or is your disguise not very good?
I caught 2 sermons this week, one on the radio and one at mass on Thanksgiving. In both, the point was that we must not only thank God for our blessings, but also for our sufferings, our ills and misfortunes etc. For God sends us these too for our good: "ALL things work to the good of those who love Him." Those who thank God only for the pleasant things seem to fall into error that either (a) He isn't really interested in our good - at least not fully; or (b) God doesn't really understand what is for our good, and if only He had asked us we could have arranged things better; or (c) He would like to arrange things for our good but He is unable to manage to arrange it. So we accuse Him of failing in omni-benevolence, or omniscience, or sovereign omnipotence.
Let's remember to thank Him for our crosses too!
