And now, dear friends, let us elevate our minds to higher and nobler things. (I am speaking to myself more than to anyone else.) Over at my own blog, some Trinity Sunday thoughts on the doctrine of the Trinity.

I'll take a little time later to read your blog post in full, but I'd like to know what you or other make of this scripture:
Jhn 17:18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
Jhn 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
Jhn 17:20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will [fn] believe in Me through their word;
Jhn 17:21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, [are] in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
Jhn 17:22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
Jhn 17:23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
In what sense is Jesus using the term "one" and "in Us"? And, does this have any bearing on the doctrine of the Trinity?

I should have mentioned that since we are understanding the doctrine of the Trinity through the framework of Aristotelian "essense", this scripture has been brought to me as a charge that this framework is incorrect and that this historic Christian doctrine is wrong.
