No Mother's Day?

Mothers this year are being asked to ignore their children on Mother's Day:

This Sunday, children of all ages will celebrate the role mothers play in their lives. But Vogue model Christy Turlington Burns and a host of female celebrities are encouraging mothers across the nation to ignore their children as part of "No Mother’s Day," a sign of their support for reducing maternal mortality by supporting family planning and global access to abortion.

The campaign asks women to "disappear" on Mother’s Day to raise awareness of maternal mortality rates and underscore "just how much a mother is missed when she’s gone." But amidst positive initiatives such as improved health care for complications such as hemorrhage and sepsis, the campaign promotes "safe" abortion, and the legalization of abortion in nations where the practice is currently illegal, as a means of lowering maternal deaths.

A press release for Every Mother Counts, the nonprofit Turlington launched in 2010, notes a new PSA "features moms encouraging other moms to join in solidarity by disappearing on May 13th, Mother’s Day. No phone calls. No emails. No social media. No gifts.”

I have an idea: let's have a "No Children Day" where all the children disappear!

Oh, wait ...

Can we hope that the women who would actually consider doing this don't actually have any children?

Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain.

The campaign asks women to "disappear" on Mother’s Day to raise awareness of maternal mortality rates and underscore "just how much a mother is missed when she’s gone."

Because, after all, it must be in virtue of your having your children that other women get sepsis or get pregnant when they don't want a child, so rebelling against your own children is an effective form of protest to the parties responsible.

Wait. What I mean is that by being an unnatural mother, you force bacteria and viruses to raise their awareness of the evils done by mothers who kill their own babies in utero.

Wait. What I mean is...

What was that again?

Isn't that Ann Curry at the beginning of that video? I remember her when she asked Rick Warren if he would change his mind about homosexuality if it was discovered to be genetic. When he replied he wouldn't because he was genetically wired to have sex with every beautiful he saw, but that doesn't make it right, Ann had a look on her face like the chained-up android from Westworld after drinking the water.

Bzzzzzzt!

Lines to Christy Turlington Burns (from another Burns who died in 1796) :

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion.

These lines were originally addressed to a Louse after seeing One on a Lady's Bonnet at Church.

Lezlie Lowe, in a column for The (Halifax) Chronicle Herald entitled, “A Day to be Thankful for Abortion Access,” wrote: “Let’s talk about Mother’s Day, why don’t we? Because if there’s any day to be thankful for abortion access, that’s the one. That’s what I’ll think about when I’m woken way too early by wiggling weasels crawling on the bed to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day.”

Oh, good, now we know for sure, clear and out in the open, that this "No Mother's Day" idea is for people who hate their kids and wish they could perform retroactive abortions. Even if that active hate is only a passing fancy, just while you are getting a hug from your kid - after he goes away and leaves you alone, you can go back to imagining that you have a life without kids, which you do 10 hours a day at work and another 4 hours a day at the gym, getting your nails done, etc. If you hate your kids, then don't celebrate Mother's Day. - seems like the upright thing to do.

How do the deaths of these women affect me? (To use a version of the gay marriage query, "How does my gay marriage affect your marriage?") Liberals encourage selfishness except when it interferes with their preference satisfaction project. This is why you have a great obligation to fund the abortions of strangers than those strangers have to their own unborn children. Immoral twits.

When this was percolating just before Mother's Day, I must've read the article three times to figure out what this was supposed to accomplish before giving up.

Here's how it works, CJ: You ignore your kids and family on Mother's Day and go away and hide. They really, really miss you. Then the next day you sit your family down and say, "See how much you missed Mommy yesterday? Well, all over the world there are children whose mommies have died from having babies because they weren't able to have a...medical procedure...which would have...taken care of things before they actually got to the point of going through childbirth and got sick and died of it. And there are *bad people* who want to continue to make it hard for women in those countries to have that lifesaving medical procedure. So we need to give money to organizations like International Planned Parenthood to help save the lives of mommies all over the world. I know you'll be really passionate about this now when you remember how much you missed me when I was gone for *just one day*."

How'd I do? Clarifying?

Yep, you got it, clear as mud. Just don't go mentioning the fact that some places that reduced access to abortion improved their maternal health rates. Little details like that won't help. CJ, your first mistake was trying to figure out (as in, logically) how this was supposed to help. Logic has nothing to do with it. They are depending on an illiterate, emotive mob who feels what they are pushed to feel, regardless of how stupid it is. One more strike for the mass-production schooling that puts out the undifferentiated _consumer_ unit: Emote, buy, consume, repeat.

Thanks Lydia. That gives me an idea!

I think I'll send my son away on his birthday and tell my daughter "did you miss big brother today? Well there are people who think it's important that ladies can have a . . . medical procedure that will make brothers and sisters . . . not be a part of the family if Mommy and Daddy don't feel like taking care of them." I think I'll call it his No Birth Day.

CJ, you're catchin' on!

Well, since its called MOTHERS DAY, its their day/ At least for once, they can do whatever they want. Whats so bad about going away for a day, and not being bothered with household chores and stuff? Kids have dads as well, right?

It's bad if they are doing it as some sort of symbol to support the murder of children.
