The Liberal heart of darkness.

Here we have Liberalism concentrated into its barest essence: Men shall be coerced (softly coerced, but coerced nonetheless) to expose themselves to great risk of life and limb in order to satisfy an abstraction and a consumer passion.

Neighborhoods in this city can change as fast as the weather: stately Victorians sliding rapidly into forlorn hovels, well-tended flower beds giving way to weeds and refuse. No one knows this better than pizza deliverers, who have been threatened, robbed, assaulted and even killed in the line of duty.

Such incidents are why many restaurants and other businesses refuse to deliver to some parts of town. To these companies, it is just common sense. To the people who live in these areas, it is discrimination.

The Board of Supervisors here has agreed with residents and passed the first ordinance in the country making it illegal for businesses to single out parts of their normal service area for no deliveries.

So pizza delivery companies shall be directed to put their employees at risk, because failure to do this is discrimination, a crime uglier and wickeder than murder.

Two years ago, for example, Samuel Reyes, 22, an employee for Domino's, delivered a pizza to an apartment in the Excelsior district in the south part of the city and was accosted on the way back to his car by a man with a gun. A scuffle ensued, and Mr. Reyes was shot to death.

Here in this madness, in this heart of darkness, we see the unmistakable tyrannical impulses of Liberalism: its hatred and falsification of any meaningful notion of liberty.

Or it could just be one municpality doing something stupid.

San Francisco has been rather on the vanguard of American stupidity for some time now. You tend to think that when some foolishness makes its debut in SF, it will becoming to a venue near you in the near future.

Or it could just be one municpality doing something stupid.

And it could also be true that their stupid action was guided by liberalism.

This is perfectly consistent with the cultural expression of liberalism, the ideological atmosphere of the times: discrimination, the drawing of distinctions, is a graver offense than murder.

Those responsible for passing such measure should themselves suffer the life-risking task of such an endeavor most especially in areas where atrocities such as murder and rape are a common occurence.

Here in this madness, in this heart of darkness, we see the unmistakable tyrannical impulses of Liberalism: its hatred and falsification of any meaningful notion of liberty.

On the contrary, liberty is as they define it and, thus, such acts cannot be rightfully called tyranny for it is they who determine that.

(In other words, liberalism is just a more sophisticated guise for tyranny.)

Paul, our domestic Green Zone is home to upper-middle class elites seeking immunity from the consequences of their own policies. Iraq is not the only country occupied by an alien force.

Ahh, life is great when you can attribute everything and anything you don't like to your political opponents.

Mike, they aren't political opponents, they are Civilization's Mortal Enemies.

Mike, they aren't political opponents, they are Civilization's Mortal Enemies.

Civilization? What's that?

I have heard of these sorts of ordinances before, so I believe they go back some years in other cities. A parallel would be attempts I have heard of to "crack down on" taxi drivers who drive by certain types of passengers in certain neighborhoods after fellow taxi drivers have been murdered in those neighborhoods. I forget who said it (Dinesh D'Souza, in his more sensible incarnation?)--"A bigot is a sociologist without portfolio."

But certainly, to the liberal mind, it is better to get murdered than to discriminate. It's their version of being principled. Rather like the Socratic principle that it would be better to be the innocent victim of a torturer than to be the torturer. Discrimination, of course, is the worst of sins to the liberal mind, so the conclusion follows.

Ahh, life is great when you can attribute everything and anything you don't like to your political opponents.

The city government is clearly run by crypto-libertarians who want to besmirch liberalism's good name by enacting insane policies based on extremist variants of liberal positions...

"But certainly, to the liberal mind, it is better to get murdered than to discriminate."

Not exactly. It is better for someone else to be murdered than for a liberal to feel bad. The managers of our decline are not as a rule, employed at Dominoes or driving cabs.

It is better for someone else to be murdered than for a liberal to feel bad.

LOL!!
